Utah State University, Class of 2003

Kathryn Fifield

Kathryn Fifield graduated from Utah State in May 2003 with Honors in Liberal Arts and Sciences, a minor in music, and University Honors. Liberal Arts and Sciences became Kathryn's major, because, she says, "I couldn't decide what to do. Instead I did as much as I could!" During her four years at USU, Kathryn played the flute in the Wind Orchestra, served as section leader for the Aggie Marching Band, and received the Outstanding Senior Female Marcher Award. She also worked as a Rhetoric Associate and an Undergraduate Teaching Fellow.

Kathryn FifieldKathryn "took an interest in psychology and was lucky enough to have one of [her] research papers published in Psychological Reports." She also co-authored an essay on "Why Writing Makes a Difference," which won the Pearce/Campbell Communication Prize, sponsored by Clemson University.

In the months following her graduation, Kathryn worked for US Senator Byron L. Dorgan of North Dakota, "gaining some practical experience," and now plans to begin a graduate program in the Library Science field.

"The Honors Program was a great chance for me to meet amazing people," says Kathryn. "It opened opportunities I never thought I'd have, and gave me the chance to make the most out of my time at USU."
