Mellon Fellowship
High GPA, GRE, college senior or recent graduate not yet enrolled in grad school. Provides $14,000 plus tuition & fees for a one-year fellowship for students earning a Ph.D. in humanistic studies and are committed to teaching and research.

Golden Key Literary Achievement Awards
Golden Key members must submit a previously unpublished and original work not to exceed 1,500 words. 1st place $1000; 2nd place $750; 3rd place $500.

Golden Key Visual Performing Arts Achievement Awards
Nine categories (painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, computer-generated art/graphic design/illustration, mixed media, instrumental performance, vocal performance, and dance). Must include either artwork slides or taped performance with application. One winner in each category, $500 award.

American Association of University Women Education Foundation
For women seeking doctoral studies or continued research on the equality of women and children. Funds available for research, publication of research, doctoral studies, and community projects.

Javits
Provides a renewable stipend for students pursuing doctoral or MFA study in the arts, humanities and social sciences at an American university for up to four years. Scholarship pays up to $10,857 to the institution and no more than $18,000 as a stipend to the student.

Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR)
Awards summer fellowships to students & faculty mentors interested in a ten-week, full-time research at their institution. Must have a faculty mentor, only one proposal per faculty mentor; mentor must be a member of CUR.

Society for Women Engineers (SWE)
Utah college students (females) active in their local SWE chapter. Based on financial need, extra-curricular activities, academic achievement, and SWE program participation.

Tau Beta Pi Scholarship/Fellowship
The engineering honor society awards engineering undergraduates with money for graduate work at any institution of their choice. Based on high scholarship, campus leadership and service, and promise of future contributions to the engineering profession.

National Science Foundation
Seniors pursuing a Research Masters or Ph.D. in NSF approved fields. Provides $30,000 plus tuition and fees for three years (must be used over a 5 year period). Chosen based on outstanding academics and project impact.

National Defense Science & Engineering Graduate Fellowship
Covers 3 years of graduate studies in mathematical, physical, biological, ocean, and engineering sciences. Covers tuition, fees, and a $27,500 yearly stipend.

National Physical Science Consortium
For students planning on graduate work in Astronomy, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geology, Materials Science, Mathematical Sciences, Physics, or Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, Computer, and Electrical Engineering. Must be a senior with at least a 3.0, awards targeted at women and underrepresented minorities. Funds cover 2-3 years of graduate work with an available dissertation funds to fellows.

Howard Hughes Biology Scholarship
Fellowships and grants available in the following areas, specified competitions announced each year within the categories: Biomedical Research Grants for International Scientists, Grants for Medical Student Research Training, and Grants for Undergraduate Science Education.

Churchill Foundation Scholarship
Established to encourage knowledge and sharing ideas in science and technology between U.S. and Great Britain. Provides tuition and living allowance for graduate work in engineering, mathematics, physical or natural sciences at Churchill College, Cambridge University.

Goldwater
Active in science major, research experience, 3.5 GPA or up. USU can nominate 4 candidates; must apply through USU. Provides tuition, room & board and fees for 1-2 years for students planning a research career in math, natural science, & engineering.

Golden Key Engineering/Technology Achievement Awards
Golden Key member must prepare an engineering/technology related paper or report with an analytical essay about the paper. 1st place $1,000; 2nd place $750; 3rd place $500.

Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History Research Training Program
Seeking career in anthropology, botany, entomology, invertebrate zoology, mineral sciences and geology, paleobiology or vertebrate zoology. 10 week summer program where students work with Smithsonian scientists at the Natural History Museum. $3,000 stipend.

Robert H. Goddard Scholarship
US citizen, space related science and engineering. Provides $10,000 for continued education of aerospace technology or science.

Gilman
Any U.S. citizen, undergraduate, on a Pell Grant. Provides up to $5,000 for study abroad. (Science & Engineering students encouraged).

Associated Western Universities
Funds available for students or faculty wanting to continue research at a sponsoring laboratory or facility.

Hertz Foundation Fellowship
Provides fellowships for students going to graduate school and are working towards a Ph.D. in the Physical Sciences field.

Department of Energy Fellowship
Entering grad students with a degree in life sciences, physical sciences, or engineering can apply for either Nuclear Engineering or Health Physics program component. Each award is 24 - 48 months. Each award requires a 3-month practicum at a Department of Energy facility.

Morris K. Udall Scholarship
$5,000 to students wanting to work in environmental policy or Native American/Alaska Native tribal policy and health care.

Harry S. Truman Scholarship
$30,000 for undergraduates planning a career in public service and going to graduate school. USU can nominate 4.
Junior or Senior
Pamela Harriman Foreign Service Fellowship
Foreign Service interest, high GPA and security clearance. Provides $5,000 to work in the US embassies in Paris or London or the US secretary of State.

Madison Program
College seniors and college graduates without teaching experience qualify as Junior Fellows; must agree to teach in a secondary school for no less than one year for each full year of study (of the roots, principles, framing and development of the United States Constitution.) under a fellowship; qualify for study toward one of the appropriate master's degrees. Applicants are strongly encouraged to pursue degrees in history or political science. Senior Fellowships are awarded to experienced teachers who wish to undertake work for a graduate degree on a part-time basis; they have up to five years to complete their degree.

For conservative Americans in Honors or prospective graduate students in history teaching. Honors fellows attend a summer seminar and Graduate fellows receive money for grad school.

3.2 GPA or higher, pursuing International Studies at graduate level from a list of graduate schools. Provides funds for junior and senior undergraduate years plus first year of graduate school. Annual meetings in Washington, DC.

State Farm Exceptional Student Fellowship
Provides $3,000 annually for student's educational experience the following academic year. Business-related fields such as accounting, business administration, actuarial science, computer science, economics, finance, insurance, investments, marketing, management, mathematics, or statistics; GPA of 3.6 or higher.

Golden Key Business Achievement Awards
Golden Key member who excels in business studies. Must prepare a paper/report related to business. 1st place $1,000; 2nd place $750; 3rd place $500.

Education majors interested in public/education policy and administration and are planning on continuing education. Scholars work for 5 weeks at an education internship and are assigned to the Office of the Secretary in Washington, DC. (Paid internship, must pay for own transportation and housing.)

Academic Opportunity Fund
Any undergraduate in good standing; provides up to $500 for expenses to present a paper/project at a reputable organization in which presentor will be representing USU or ASUSU.

Golden Key Undergraduate Research Grants
Ten $500 awards to allow Golden Key members to conduct thesis research and/or present their research at professional conferences or student research symposia.

URCO Grant
Any undergraduate in good standing; matches up to $500 of department sponsorship for undergraduate research.

Fulbright
Provides transportation, tuition, and monthly stipend for one academic year of study/research in another country. Must have a B.A. at departure and must be proficient in host country's language.

Any U.S. citizen, undergraduate, on a Pell Grant. Provides up to $5,000 for study abroad. (Science & Engineering students encouraged).

NSEP (Nat'l Security Education Program)
U.S. citizen, undergraduate. Provides some funding to study abroad non-English speaking & outside of Western Europe.

Golden Key members currently enrolled in a study abroad program or will be enrolled the academic year immediately following the granting of the award. Award recipients will be expected to contribute an article about their study abroad experience to CONCEPTS, Golden Key's annual magazine. 10 $1,000 awards per year.

Provides expenses for one year of study abroad to further educational experiences in undergraduate studies. Must be proficient in language of host country.

Any undergraduate in good standing; matches up to $500 of department sponsorship for undergraduate research.

Freeman Asia
Any U.S. citizen, undergraduate receiving financial aide or verifiable financial need. $3,000 - $7,000 to study abroad in one of 15 Asian countries. Must promote study abroad Asia on home campus upon return.

Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship
Academic achievement, leadership, campus/community involvement. Provides up to $50,000 annually for up to six years for grad school. USU can nominate 2 candidates.

Freshman - Sophomore
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Scholarship
Full time student, 3.3 GPA, less than 60 credits. Interested in a diverse and talented science and technology community studying engineering, life & social sciences, psychology, selected humanities, or physical, mathematical, & computer information. Must be an undergraduate, not planning to graduate within four years. DHS appointments are two years long and include a $1,000/month stipend during the academic year and a $5,000 stipend for the 10-week summer internship.

Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarships
Available only to DAR members, scholarships available in nearly every field. Must be able to use scholarships in consecutive years. Must obtain a sponsorship letter from state DAR chapter.

Gates-Cambridge Scholarship
Citizens from any country, (normally) under 20, must have been accepted to Cambridge for graduate studies. Provides funds for 1-4 years of study at Cambridge for those seeking another BA or a graduate degree. Looking for those dedicated to enhancing living circumstances in their respective countries.

Gates Millennium Scholars Foundation
Grants available for outstanding African American, American Indian/Alaska Natives, Asian Pacific Islander Americans, and Hispanic American students to complete an undergraduate degree in all areas or a graduate degree in mathematics, science, engineering, education, or library science.

Soros Fellowship
Any program, under 30, "new American". Provides up to $20,000 and ? tuition at a U.S. graduate program for 2 years for naturalized citizens, resident aliens, or children of 2 naturalized citizens.

Rhodes Scholarship
Must be under 24, 3.5+ GPA, leadership & service oriented. Provides funds for 2-3 years of study at Oxford University. Must have completed bachelors degree by beginning of study at Oxford.

Fulbright Scholarship
Awarded to graduating seniors, young professionals, artists, and graduate students. Typically cover 100% of graduate school costs.

George J. Mitchell Scholarship
Aimed at grad students or those eligible for grad study. Twelve scholars are eligible to attend institutions of higher learning in Ireland, including the seven universities in the Republic of Ireland and the two universities in Northern Ireland, for one academic year of graduate study.

British Marshall Scholarship
Finance young Americans of high ability to study for a degree in the United Kingdom. The (40/year) Scholarships are tenable at any British university and cover two years of study in any discipline, at either undergraduate or graduate level, leading to the award of a British University degree.

Golden Key Student Leader Award (Regional & International)
One Golden Key member recognized in each region (13 U.S. regions, Asia-Pacific region, South Africa Region and Canada Region) for outstanding commitment to the Society and display of effective campus and community leadership while maintaining superior academic performance. Each recipient of Regional Award will receive a $500 award and will be considered candidates for International Student Leader Award.

Elie Wiesel Essay
$ prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and two honorable mentions for a personal essay that deals with an ethical issue. Must have a faculty sponsor; topics available on website.

Phi Kappa Phi
Must be an invited member of Phi Kappa Phi. USU chapter may nominate one candidate that has applied to professional or grad school and have less than one year of graduate credit. Provides sixty $5,000 awards and forty $1,500 awards in support of first year of graduate work.
Sophomore - Senior
Golden Key Community Service Award
One award of $500 ($250 to recipient and $250 to charity of choice) based on community service and impact of recipient's involvement on the community.
Freshman - Senior
USA Today Scholarship
Any undergraduate with an intellectual product (invention, program, news article, etc.), leadership, and academic achievement. Provides $2,500 award and trip to Washington, DC.
Senior
Golden Key Graduate Scholarship
Must be currently working on an undergraduate degree or first undergraduate degree received within five years of application deadline. Full time student in a post-baccalaureate program of study during the academic year immediately following the granting of the award. 12 $10,0000 scholarships available per year. Based on academic achievement, Golden Key involvement, & extracurricular activities.
