Eligibility for Acceptance:
Qualified students will have a cumulative USU GPA of at least 3.50 and will be a matriculated student in the upper-division courses of the major.

Program of Study:
The 15-credit requirement for Honors in LAEP is met by successfully completing contracts in the following courses:

  • 9-12 credits must be taken inside the department to include:
    • 3 credits Honors thesis to be completed in lieu of a portion of standard LAEP 4120 course offering
  • 2 credits to be taken in Readings Seminars (LAEP 6910 and 6930)
  • The balance of Honors credits (3-6) may be taken outside the department, with the approval of the Departmental Honors Advisor
  • The total of 15 Honors credit may include up to 3 credits of lower-division Honors course work.

Requirements for Completion of Degree:
The successful candidate will graduate with a cumulative USU GPA of 3.50 and a GPA of 3.5 in upper-division major requirements and Honors course work and will complete and present in a public forum an Honors thesis/project. Many students have found it helpful to relate the courses taken on Honors contract to the final thesis/project.

  • LAEP 4130 (2 cr.) Emerging Areas in Landscape Architecture II
  • LAEP 6100 (5 cr.) Regional Landscape Planning
