Food Technology Management
Departmental Honors Advisor:
Eligibility for Acceptance:
Qualified students will be matriculated in the Food Science, Food Technology Management, Nutrition Science, or Biotechnology Program in the department of Nutrition and Food Sciences, and have cumulative GPAs of at least 3.30 for overall USU course work and 3.5 for NFS courses.
Program of Study:
The 15-credit requirement for Honors in Food Science is met by successfully completing contracts in the following courses:
- 11 credits in 5000-level NFS Food Science course work
- 3 credits of NFS 4900 (Senior research project)
- 1 credit of NFS 4990 (Senior seminar)
*Nothing lower than a B grade is acceptable in courses in which an Honors contract is being completed.
**Students who fail to complete a contract, once entered into with a faculty member, will be placed on academic probation for one semester.
Requirements for Completion of Degree:
The successful candidate will graduate with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 and a GPA of 3.5 in upper-division NFS courses and Honors courses and will complete and present in a public forum an Honors thesis/project. Many students have found it helpful to relate the courses taken on Honors contract to the final thesis/project.
